Subject: [gislist] Online map and air photo graphics for dial-up FTP users
Date:  01/13/2005 12:50:01 PM
From:  Ken Sutherland

If our GIS group could get into an air photo update cycle, i.e., every two =
years in high growth areas, in cooperation with our Property Appraiser, =
(or the WMD, FEMA, etc. in the WISE program), we could consider using =
air photos as background images with our Zoning overlays: that's where we =
could be or what we're able to do (in a few years).

We need to improve our Online Mapping Service, i.e., to include Zoning =
maps with air photos (PDFs or possibly PNGs) on our FTP for home dial-up =
users. Any ideas (cricket sounds)? Our Web server can't handle large =
graphics files, i.e., 18 MB so we can't use graphics views with air photos =
in the background.

Is this a question for Internet developers? Can anyone advise us on any =
of these Internet solutions? Thanks in advance for any Internet mapping =
solutions.

Ken
