We are reviewing our current database design for SDE and have a couple of possibilities to simplify things.
1. Currently we have parcel annotation divided into 3 separate annotation feature classes: road frontage dimensions, non-road frontage dimensions, and ROW width. What would the disadvantages be if we would combine them into a single feature class? It would simplify things for maintenance and display.
2. Currently, we have separate annotation feature classes for deeded and calculated acreage and they both exist as an attribute. Would there be a disadvantage in eliminating the annotation and creating a label from the attribute? This would simplify maintenance and it is relatively simple to label multiple attributes in ArcMap. I am not sure about IMS???
3. Should the subdivision lines be in their own feature class? Currently, we feature code the line as subdivision boundary in the parcel lines feature class with the intent to build subdivision polygons from there. It was suggested to us that we should have it completely separate from the parcels, but this would duplicate the entry of the line. If we left it as is, can polygons be built based on the feature code or would they have to be a subtype or separate feature class? Any suggestions?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
