Also worth noting, if you are interested in the ECW format then ERM have re=
cently launched v2 of a product called 'image web server' or IWS which is d=
esigned to integrate with GIS desktop/IMS and takes care of pushing the ras=
ters (vectors are still handled in the usual way). Quite a clever bit of k=
it.
