Subject: [gislist] Open Geospatial Development Training
Date:  03/09/2005 05:30:00 AM
From:  Jeff Harrison

For those interested in OGC-related topics:

There's a new training course for professionals and students who want to
quickly learn the basics of open geospatial development, add open
geospatial functionality to existing geospatial software or develop new
applications.

The course is called "Fundamentals of Open Geospatial Development" and
the next session will be held on April 12-13, 2005 in Reston, Virginia.

The course uses CarbonTools, a free toolkit for open geospatial
development, to help simplify the learning process (i.e. students don't
have to wade through OGC specifications).

The session is instructor-led and hands-on. Topics to be covered include -

- The basics of open geospatial interoperability

- Interacting with Web Map Servers (WMS) and Web Feature Servers (WFS)
from multiple vendors

- Hands-on exercises to use OGC Capabilities documents and Geography
Markup Language (GML)

- How to quickly build an open geospatial application (an air-traffic
viewer)

- and others

Please visit www.geoleaders.com/training.htm for more information. Early
registration for this session ends March 31st.

Regards,

Jeff
