I have a dataset of reported crimes in one town over the past few years. I have a single table (added to the project) which includes the type of crime, with a code using 6 or 8 standard police codes for certain crimes, and the physical address. The physical address is linked to a tax parcel polygon shapefile (all AV8.x) .
For any single phys. address there may be multiple entries in the incident table especially if multiple crimes were filed in a single incident.
I am trying to 'pin-flag' the crime types at each affected address.
First I will create a point file for the centroids of each tax parcel - then I need to assign a proportional symbol at those affected addresses, symbolized by the type of crime and proportional to the number of times that type of crime was reported at that address.
It seems like I should be summarizing crime types by address and plotting those results, but the next step here is beating me.. Any offers??
Thanks
mike
