Hello,
I'm attempting to determine what the mean distance of travel is for all California consumers is to full service grocery stores. I have a 1:24k local road coverage, population by block group using 2000 US Census data, and a georeferenced point coverage of all California full service grocery stores. I have been attempting to determine this using euclidian distance and cost distance, but my numbers are coming out wrong. I've hit a serious dead end, and am beginning to wonder if my initial logic was completely off. I am hoping to calculate the distance using the road data layer, but it's looking like I'll may have to simply use the centroid of the block group polygons (which is unacceptable!). Any and all suggestions on how to do this analysis are extremely welcome!!!
sincerely,
a frustrated little GIS'er
