There is a great tool put out by Trimble that few know about. The product
is known as EzMAP and is the core of their auto-steer solutions in precision
ag. It has a very robust customization feature for customized activities,
events, and pick-lists for touch-screen attributization of points, lines,
and polygons. It reads and writes SHP files as well as being compatible to
backgrounds from Terraserver as well as home grown geoJEPs and BMPs. As it
is a tool used for production agriculture it's a KISS design. Do not
discount the customization features it has. EzMAP is a very powerful,
fexible, and intuitive solution. Works well on all WinCE and PocketPCs and
does not require anything GPS-wise from Trimble. FYI Price $395

Subject: [gislist] Mobile GIS

While we're on the topic of hand held GPS, I'm wondering if anyone might
be able to recommend a reasonably-priced/featured mobile GIS software
package for either Palm or PocketPC. What I'm most interested in is data
collection with customizable forms, etc. that can be used in a number
of applications, incl. biotic inventories, agricultural management
(vineyard, etc.)...

Thank you - I will SUM.
