Sorry everyone,
I neglected to mention the applications that we will be running. Thanks for the quick feedback on that everyone...
We will most likely be running ArcGIS 9.1 Desktop applications. We will not be running our ArcSDE on this server, or our ArcIMS.
Thanks again in advance!

You never mentioned what applications would be running on the server and that's very important to know when configuring for both design/purchase and setup.

Hello everyone,
I am investigating purchasing a new GIS server for our team, and am humbly requesting any suggestions or advise on what would be the best system given our tight budget. At the most, we would have 3 to 4 people using the Server at any one time.
Here's where we are at this time:
We know that we can't afford more than 4 processors or a Blade server =0( So, we're buying Xeon processors...
What we still need to know:
1. How much RAM should we purchase, and should we divide up our RAM for each of our processors? (ie. We buy 4 processors and 8 gb of RAM...so every processor has 2gb...) 2. How many processors should be buy? 3. What OS works best (must be terminal server).
Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance,
