Subject: [gislist] SUM: need to map coords on web
Date:  06/08/2005 12:10:02 PM
From:  RICK GRAY

Original Question:

I need some help from the list to find a web based tool that will allow me to
enter coordinates - preferably decimal degrees - and have the location plotted.
Sort of like Maporama.com in reverse. Does anyone know of such a tool?

Responses:

I had three suggestions, as follows...

Sonny Parafina suggested http://redspider.us/studio/ - easy to use, very slow
to load, no roads in Canada, therefore not useful

Hylan L Beydler suggested The National Map viewer at
nmviewogc.cr.usgs.gov/viewer.htm - quicker than the one above, much more time
consuming to find the place to enter coordinates, still no roads in Canada

Allan Harris suggested http://www.epa.gov/tri , but I was not successful in
finding a way to enter lat and long and from what I read I suspect it, too, will
only have US roads.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I am still looking.
