AV 3.x and Arc* 9.x (and 3.x and 8.x for that matter) are entirely
separate and do not really share any file structure.. libraries.. etc..

They will coexist just fine. I've done this before.. it's useful if you
have legacy Avenue stuff especially.. or old extensions, etc.

8.x and 9.x .. don't think those play together (but not sure).

Also, I suggest pumping your ram to 1gb (or more) if your
budget/notebook can handle it.
