How did I over-react ? If you felt compelled to help Anne, then you had her personal off-list email address to inform her of "best thing to start with". What would you consider to be an "excessive ad" ? Her specific question was "Do I do some academic work, or just jump into the tools?" - so, how does your "single" paragraph answer her question ?

Dear Anthony (and listers),
I really cannot understand your over reaction to my mail. I think this list is useful to everyone in the community, providing useful feedbacks, and should not be abused by excessive ads. On the other hand, I will be pleased to learn about new software, releases, new features etc. Software is a major component of Geospatial world, and we should all know what is going on (yes, I mean we should also know about non-esri components in the world).
My mail was a single paragraph mail, informing new users about a FREE GEOSPATIAL LEARNING product. I believe this is what Anne asked for, and I provided a simple reply. I did not promote the abilities, features etc.. Do you think I am earning my life by marketing a free product?
I think my only fault was using the company mail account for this innocent posting.
Best regards, Demir Devecigil
