Subject: Re: [gislist] GIS Certification For Newbies......

From:  Tripp Corbin

I know of a couple in the Atlanta Georgia area. Both Gainesville College
and Kennesaw State University offer a GIS certificate that is separate
from any degree program. I have had the opportunity to work with several
folks coming out of the Gainesville program and have been very impressed
with their abilities.

I was giving some thought to setting up a non-profit GIS apprenticeship
program to train GIS technicians. I was curious, is there a GIS
Certificate focused on those relatively new to the profession? Something
equivalent to an A.A.S. degree? Most of the certificates I've examined
are for those with extensive experience.

Thanks for any info.
