It is always best to try and run applications on the platform for which they were developed. I have friend that use Apples and have tried to use the Windows imulator. They have had mixed results. Usually though the more complicated the software the more problems they have had.
I understand that Apple is in the process of creating an OS that will run on the Intel chipset. I think they may even have a beta version ready. When it is released that may be a good option. Then you could duel boot your machine and run both Windows and the Mac OS.

I just purchased a Sony VGN A790 three days ago, hoping that it would be a great GIS mobile computer for my work. I chose this computer because it has a fast processor speed (2.0ghz), lot's of RAM (1gb, but I'll be upgrading to 2gb), and a beautiful monitor (17 inches...this thing is a MONSTER!) which is essential for me since I make so many maps. Anyway, the point of this email is that I am now getting a lot of people telling me that I should have purchased an Apple notebook, and simply bought a Windows emulator program in order to run my GIS app's. Then, I could use the Apple for all of my other graphic needs (like illustrator and photoshop). Has anyone out there tried this? I can imagine that you would have significant processing speed issues doing this, which is the last thing that I would want. Working on a computer has really made me an impatient little thang.
Anyway, if anyone has any additional suggestions on kick-ass GIS laptops out there (I am looking for the best) I would really appreciate your feedback. I just spent all of my savings on the above mentioned laptop, and have 20 days to review it...
Thanks so much in advance!
And HAPPY FRIDAY!
