Subject: [gislist] Need help finding elevation range within a polygon, ArcView 9.1
Date:  11/10/2005 06:00:01 PM
From:  David T. Hughes

I'm almost a newbie to using GIS software and need some help. I have an
ArcGIS (Arcview license) 9.1 map file with, for simplicity, two layers: One
layer is a series of circular polygons 100m in diameter drawn by buffering a
point layer. The other is a 1m DEM that ArcView insists on rendering as
shaded relief only. Is there any way (using VBA scripts with joins or
whatever) to determine the greatest and least elevation point within the
circle? If I could determine aspect, slope, and insolation that would be
great! But I do NOT have ArcInfo, Spatial Analyst, or 3-D Analyst extensions
available. Anyone have any workaround or do I just need to shell out the
cost of the upgrades and extensions?

Thanks.
