Try looking in the default installation directory for MXDDOCTOR.exe
C:Program FilesArcGISDeveloperKit ools
As for editing an MXD, it is certainly not recommended by ESRI and I do not know of a way to edit like we edited APR files what seems like a long time ago.

Subject: [gislist] I need an opinion - editing .mdx files ArcMap 9.0
Dear Friends:
How can I edit the mxd project file fo ArcMap 9.0 to repair it?
There is a simple method or it is a quimera.
The mxd doctor is may be an usefull tool?
If mxd doctor works, how can I found it?
Thanks all of you
