Subject: [heur][bayes] [gislist] AMD vs Pentium

I think this is an age old question. I have read both kinds of reviews where
one is said to be better than the other (AMD vs Pentium). It's almost as if
authors of these reviews are already biased about a particular processor.

However, these reviews mostly compare processor strengths/weaknesses in
terms of DVD ripping or mp3 to wav conversions or running games that
require extreme graphics.

But what I want to know is specific to running ArcGIS applications. Has
anyone tried and seen if AMD processors are better than P4 or vice versa for
running ArcGIS applications? What does ESRI recommend?

Regards,
Solomon
