Hello,
Our county just received new digital aerials. We have been doing various checks to assure good accuracy and appearance. We checked the DEM with our high accuracy monuments and found 66% of the points checked were accurate to 2ft or better, 7% were only accurate to 20ft or worse with the worst being off by almost 60ft.
I have been told that the vertical accuracy of the DEM has no bearing on the horizontal accuracy of the Orthos. Is this really true? Are these accuracies good enough to produce Orthos that are supposed to meet National Map Accuracy Standards for 1" = 200' scale?
