Dear Colleagues,

The Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association is pleased to invite the=
global spatial data community to attend our 9th international conference i=
n Santiago, Chile. The primary sessions will occur Monday through Friday No=
vember 6-10, 2006. Continuing with our organizational goal of fostering spa=
tial data infrastructure developments in support of important worldwide nee=
ds, the theme of GSDI-9 is "Spatial Information: Tool for Reducing Poverty."

The conference program has been designed to accommodate opening and closing=
plenary sessions with keynote speakers, a special plenary session on the u=
se of spatial technologies in addressing the plight of the poor, technical =
sessions in five parallel tracks for which many will have simultaneous tran=
slation in Spanish and English, half-day pre-conference and mid-conference =
workshops freely open to all registrants, an extensive poster exhibit and c=
ompetition, and numerous organized round table discussions to allow people =
from common regions of the globe or with common interests to present, discu=
ss, and share issues, experiences and plans.

The conference will be held at the Diego Portales Convention Center in the =
heart of the lovely city of Santiago. The program promises to be the most e=
xciting and best yet.

GSDI-9 will support two primary forms of publication:
(1) a normal conference proceedings with abstracts and full articles
(2) a published book of fully refereed articles

Submission deadlines:
Fully Refereed Publication: Full paper due March 15, 2006
Proceedings Publication: Abstract due May 2nd, 2006. If accepted, full=

La Asociaci=F3n de la Infraestructura Global de Datos Espaciales tiene el g=
ran agrado de invitar a toda la comunidad mundial a su 9=AA Conferencia (GS=
DI-9), que se desarrollar=E1 en la ciudad de Santiago, Chile: ente el 6 y 1=
0 de noviembre del 2006. Continuando con nuestra tem=E1tica de fomentar y e=
stimular los desarrollos de las Infraestructuras de Datos Espaciales, como=
herramientas de apoyo las necesidades vigentes en el mundo, el tema de la =

inauguraci=F3n y de cierre con interesantes discursos de autoridades en la =
materia, una sesi=F3n plenaria especial acerca de la utilizaci=F3n de las t=
ecnolog=EDas espaciales en la problem=E1tica de la pobreza, sesiones t=E9cn=
icas en cinco comisiones paralelas, donde la mayor=EDa dispondr=E1n de trad=
ucci=F3n simultaneas espa=F1ol-ingl=E9s, ingl=E9s-espa=F1ol, talleres pre-c=
onferencia y a la mitad de esta, con una duraci=F3n de medio d=EDa, una amp=
lia exposici=F3n y competencia de posters y muchas Mesas Redondas organizad=
as de manera que los interesados puedan presentar, discutir y compartir su=
s preocupaciones, experiencias y proyectos desde una perspectiva regional.

La conferencia ser=E1 llevado a cabo en el Centro de Convenciones del Edifi=
cio Diego Portales en el coraz=F3n de la ciudad de Santiago y el programa =
promete ser el mas interesante y el mejor de todas las conferencias hasta a=
hora realizadas.
