Subject: Re: [gislist] Steps to import GLCF data?
Date:  03/01/2006 02:15:01 PM
From:  Ned Horning

Larry,

You are downloading the individual bands from the GLCF site. To make a color
image you need to combine three of these bands.

We have a web site (http://geospatial.amnh.org) with some information that
you might find useful. The site is under development but you should find
what you are looking for in the "Remote Sensing Resources" section of the
site. Here are some of the links that are related to downloading and
displaying data from GLCF:
http://geospatial.amnh.org/remote_sensing/guides/locating/landsat.html
http://geospatial.amnh.org/remote_sensing/guides/viewing_data/photoshop.html
http://geospatial.amnh.org/remote_sensing/guides/viewing_data/choosing_softw
are.html

If you want a tutorial to read these data using an Open Source software
program look at the OpenEV tutorial at:
http://geospatial.amnh.org/remote_sensing/training/workshop_material/monitor
_lcc/tutorials.html . Instructions for reading the GLCF images in color are
at the end of the tutorial.

If you look at the site I'd be interested to hear your comments. We're
interested in providing useful resources for folks like you.

All the best,

Ned
