I need some ideas regarding an arcgis web application. I have an SDE database with polyline and polygon feature classes. My client is a web browser which will allow users to enter the cadastral number (plot number) in a browser. I need to fetch the data from the sde and display it to the browser. This data will not be edited by the user. But he should be able to do some simple operations like measure, place labels, draw simple graphics, etc on the data. From what I understand, I have the following options:
1. Create an OCX or a .NET assembly with the ESRI Map Control embedded in it. This OCX will be used in an ASP.net application that can be accessed from the web (intranet).
2. Use ArcIMS to publish the map over the intranet. I have no idea what ArcIMS is and what it can do, and how it can be used. Any pointers on arcims would be of great help. Can it be used to allow users to measure, place labels, etc..
Does anyone have any other ideas on how I can go about doing this. Am i missing something on the above points. Please help. I am a novice in this area.
