Subject: Re: [gislist] ArcGIS and hyper-thread technology / dual processors?

ArcGIS is a single threaded process. A single session of ArcGIS will
only use one processor. Here are some links from ESRI with more
information.

Subject: [gislist] ArcGIS and hyper-thread technology / dual processors?

Hi GeoListers,

I am working on specifications for new GIS workstations. These
workstations will primarily be used for ArcInfo 9.1 work as well as
other PC software applications.

Our Work Group Manager (sys admin) suggested that we look at machines
with hyper-thread technology as well as dual processors. My question is
this: Can ArcGIS take advantage of these technologies?

Thanks,
Travis
