Subject: [gislist] download Garmin 76 to ArcView 3.2
Date:  04/07/2006 02:15:02 PM
From:  Rixanne Wehren

Hello listers,

Hope someone can help me get connected to a Garmin 76. I have had no
trouble with a GPS III+, but now can't get the 76 going.

Win 2000, AV 3.2a, serial port

I have tried Waypoint + with AVGarmin, but the file gets corrupted.
Says it is 'expecting" a NAD 27 input (?!?)

I tried DNR Garmin with and without AV, but can't get the GPS 76 to
connect through the serial port. Set to Com 1, 4800 baud. The
computer says the port is available, but the 76 is not connected.
Checked all cables, power etc.

I read that Active Sync can conflict, so set it to allow serial
connections on Com 1. Still nothing. Is there a way to disable
Avctive Sync completely (other than uninstall)?

Does anyone have experience with this or hints that I can try? We
have 8 of these 76s now, and have to get it connected!

many thanks for any help,

Rixanne
