I know this request has been sent to the list more than once, but I couldn't seem to find any of the messages online.
I am looking for some recommendations on Pocket PCs that can be used for GIS data collection. I need to be able to hook the tablet to a hand held Garmin "etrex" GPS Recevier via a 9-pin connection. I'd also like something with good battery life and a screen that holds up in the sunlight. I also need the PC to run Windows CE, as I will be developing my own GIS data collection applications in Python.
We will most likely put the unit in an OtterBox, so that will help with some of the durability issues.
I need to keep the price range under $1000.00, because this is for a volunteer project with "no" budget. :]
Thanks in advance for the info.

P.S. - I will provide a summary of the responses.
