Boubaker:
A few pointers. "AnyZip" should successfully unzip the .gz compression file, although I prefer to use WinZip as I have found it reliable. You may wish to try WinZip to see if decompression is the problem. Use the "ArcGIS 8x Conversion Tools > Import from Interchange File..." data conversion tool to convert the .e00 file to an ArcInfo coverage. The directory to which you write the coverage should ideally be an ArcInfo workspace, or a folder created in ArcCatalog - because if the folder to which you are trying to write the coverage was created in "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer" (NOT Internet Explorer), there may be a problem. The name of, or any part of the path name to, the workspace or folder to which you are trying to write the coverage should not contain any spaces. Also keep the coverage name to 8 or less alphanumeric characters in length, and do not try to start the coverage name with a numeric value. Converting .e00 files to coverages is quite easy once you get to know all the little quirks that may make the conversion fail in one way or another. Hope this is of help to you, and that you get the .e00 file converted.
George.

Hi Listers,
I downloaded data from http://data.geocomm.com/catalog/ which has the zipped
format *E00.GZ* .
I decompress it using the free downloadable software "Anyzip". But then when
I used the convesrion command in ARCToolbox to convert from interchange
format to coverage, a message appeared saying that it was unable to make the
conversion.
Has anybody of you worked with the data dowloaded from that site? If so, is
there a better decompression software?
Please let me know at your soonest convenience.
_______________________________________________
gislist mailing list
gislist@lists.geocomm.com
http://lists.geocomm.com/mailman/listinfo/gislist

_________________________________
This list is brought to you by
The GeoCommunity
http://www.geocomm.com/
