Subject: Re: [gislist] Plotter / scanner
Date:  06/19/2006 08:30:02 AM
From:  Tripp Corbin

To be honest it really depends on how you wish to use it and if you
already have a plotter in house. The HP unit is very good especially if
you don't already have a good plotter and will be plotting/scanning a
lot of color. We have used many HP plotter models over the years and
have always been impressed with the quality of their output and
reliability. We currently use HP DesignJets 5500, 1055 CM, 800, and 755.

However if you already have a good plotter and will be plotting more B/W
while scanning both color and B/W, then a Xerox might be a good option.
We have a Xerox 510 engineering copier/scanner. It has been great. It
allows us to plot our engineering drawings, which are all B/W, much
faster and cheaper than if we plotted them on our HP Designjets. The
scanner will also scan color up to 400 dpi and save to our network. The
scanner works extremely well and will handle documents up to 36 inches
wide and 1/2 inch thick.

Subject: [gislist] Plotter / scanner

Hello,

Our office is thinking about getting a scanner / plotter system. Does
anyone out there have any recommendations? I noticed the HP Designjet
820 MFP on the internet the other day. It looked promising because it
had both integrated into one unit. Any opinions on this product?
