IF this new laptop is running Windows XP did you install the XP patch for ArcView 3.X?

Hello!
I instalIed arcview 3.2a onto a new laptop, it seemed to install OK, but when opening data and using the information tool to query polygons I get the following error messages:
"The parameter is incorrect", and "MSW call delete object failed", and the tool AV leaves the poligon a different color like it was selected.
Do you have any suggestion?
