Why not use the DBMS compnent of your GIS first and get the line data into a form that ArcINFO can handle? Also, keep in mind that the id and Z attributes are node attributes. They should not be associated with a line (unless you make a new line_id and into two attributes from your Z data, e.g. from_z and to_z).
