Your comments, however relevant, do not invalidate my points to Selvan. Those companies that you accurately suggest, leverage publicly funded base data as a foundation for their products, do however, in fact invest tens of millions of dollars yearly to improve [in every way] that publicly funded base data. So, their equities are certainly important, and yes, of course, they make tens or hundreds of millions of dollars per year, and so what of it ? The point of the original post was that Selvan wanted to extract proprietary information from a FREE service provided by commercial entities (ie. Google, Digital Globe, NAVTEQ, etc.) and NOT seek to get that information from public agencies. Thanks for pointing Selvan in a direction where he can get the data he seeks.
