Travis,
Your shapefile is corrupt. Sound like someone may have edited the dbf by
itself. Here are a couple of things to try. Try opening the shapefile in
ArcView 3.x. It is more forgiving than ArcGIS. If you can get it to open
then do a convert to shapefile. That will generate a new file that
should work in ArcGIS. You might also wish to try Shapechk which I have
attached here.

I have an existing Shapefile for which I'm receiving the following error
upon attempting to open it (add it to ArcView 9.1). I tried to just open
the .dbf, but couldn't seem to read it for some reason.

ERROR opening feature class

Number of shapes does not match the number of table records

Has anyone encountered this before, and, is there a workaround/fix for
it?
