Since you have excel, there are utilities that will generate a
spreadsheet of all files inside a selected folder. Here is one that I
found on cnet doing a quick search.

Subject: [gislist] Generating a list of GIS data files

Hello Listers:

I have a question regarding data management. I would like to generate
a list of all my GIS data files, basically the 'file name" and "path."
For example: aerial_photo2005.tif C:\GISDataImagery.

I've generated a list from the DOS "dir /s >> c: ilelist.txt"
command, but the result is a text file that needs quite a bit of clean
up. I have multiple folders and subfolders.

Has anyone else done something like this and is there a simple
solution? I'm not a programmer and won't be able to develop a script on
my own.

Oh.....I tried cleaning the text file in Excel, but it exceeds the row
limitation.

Any suggestions or help would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

-Eric
