Unfortunately, Bill, you're right about one thing. Even after the official release of ArcGIS software, the ArcGIS users end up being beta-testers. I will add, however, that the ESRI GIS apps. are commonplace and widely used in the GIS community. I use ArcGIS for various projects, and the questions about problems with new releases help me to plan the implementation of upgrades. For instance, I have the 9.2 upgrade, but because of the information on this list, I have not installed it and have maintained a consistent workflow waiting for the inevitable service pack. Technical questions about new releases continue to identify potential problems and inform many on this list. But as a Manifold user I will admit that this list generates some tiresome rants when specific products are discussed. That said, here is the listserve for ArcGIS/ESRI: http://support.esri.com/listserve/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- Paul Barnes GIS Manager Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District 9229 Highway 49 Gulfport, MS 39503 228-868-2311

From what I've been seeing on this list lately there seem to be a number of expected errors now with ArcGIS 9.2. But if someone would suggest a better ESRI tech support list than GISlist, maybe that would be the most helpful to all -- including those of us who still haven't drunk the kool-aid and couldn't care less about what ArcGIS 9.2 beta testers are discovering. _______________________________________________ gislist mailing list gislist@lists.geocomm.com http://lists.geocomm.com/mailman/listinfo/gislist
