Subject: Re: [gislist] Script for rotating point feature perpendicular tolinework

Sounds like you need to have the marker symbol's angle set so it's
perpendicular to the line. I found this description that you might be
able to modify to do this, but you'll need to have code that will select
a line based on a point and then calculate the angle that the line has.
I haven't seen a script that will do this, but there is probably an
example somewhere.

An alternative might be - since your conductor are at the end of the
line and assuming that the lines end point is where the conductor is,
then you might be able to just create a cartographic line symbol that
has your conductor symbol at the end of the line. You just set the line
properties tab to one of the arrows, and then change the arrow to the
symbol you need. The symbol should automatically rotate as the line
does.

Good luck,
David

Subject: [gislist] Script for rotating point feature perpendicular
tolinework

Hi Folks!!!!

I need to know if there are any free script available for rotating the
utilities symbols in electrical or water network GDB files.I am working
on ArcGIS 9.0 To be more specific. I have an electrical conductor (line)
with 270deg and the point feature is placed snapping to the end of the
conductor..I want to know if there are any ready free script available
to rotate the points feature perpendicular to the linework.Hope it makes
sense.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Regards,

Kalai Selvan.
