You need at least two points to properly position data. Two points allows you to determine location, scale and rotation. One way to get those points would be to go out and shot some of the same point located with the total station with GPS. Then you could more the either data set to match those points. Barring that option if you are using ArcGIS 8.x or higher you can use the Spatial Adjust toolbar to georeference the points to your aerial photos. Our field crew used Total Station to collect data, but only have one point (USGS Benchmark) that is connected to the real world. We are using Foresight to extract the data and ArcView to display. Does anyone know of a way to make the multitude of other points also connect with the real world?
Ideally what I would like to see is a shapefile that I can overlay on an aerial.
