Subject: Re: [gislist] AGS 9.2 (Adding an SOC to the Server)?

Hi!

During the post-install, whatever user you used for your SOM account, that user should be a member of agsadmin group on your SOC machine. Check if this is true.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!
Ajit

Subject: [gislist] AGS 9.2 (Adding an SOC to the Server)?

Hi Listers,

I'm attempting to add a server object container (SOC) to my GIS Server.
I tried doing this via both the AGS Manager as well as ArcCatalog.
However, both attempts failed. Here is a brief summary of the errors I'm
receiving for each method:

ARCCATALOG ----

ArcCatalog > Add ArcGIS Server (wizard) > Manage GIS Services >

You need to add at least one machine to the server before you can
publish any services. Would you like to add a machine now?

Hosts tab > (Add ) Add Machine window. Upon selecting a computer from
our network, I'm receiving the following error...

Machine (computer name) is not a valid server container. Error:
0x80070005 (Access is denied).

AGS MANAGER ----

GIS Server > Add Host Machine (typed host name)

Error: Unable to add host machine. Make sure you typed the name of the
machine correctly. If so, verify that the machine has the appropriate
ArcGIS Server software installed and has been properly configured
through the GIS Server Post Install.

Please let me know if you have any ideas...

Thank you,

Travis
