Saviors!
I can't tell you how much I love this list. Today I finished in 20 minutes
the task I was hung up on for two hours yesterday.
Thanks to jame mackson, Bruce Bannerman, Shrikant Mate, Tripp Corbin, and
Tim van Vliet for clues to my problem.
With ArcCatalog open BY ITSELF, export from shapefile to personal
geodatabase is simple.
With ArcCatalog open INSIDE ArcMap, it fails.
