Dear all, I am trying to figure out the best tool, software and methodology for GPS mapping. I appologize if this question is already posted but I feel it better to post it again as there are rapid innovations in technology with time. I would compile and sum up the replies at the end.
What can be the best tool (GPS device) that one might use to map street level data? It would be nice if we could elaborate it in terms of refresh rate, accuracy, battry life and integration with most varients of Mobile devices.
What is the most suitable software that runs with the various available Mobile Devices Operating Systems in the market? It would be nice if we add some information about the data format to store this data.
What might be the best methodology in conducting the GPS survey and then verifying the generated data with some background imagery?
As per my study so far, I am thinking of buying a bluetooth GPS device e.g., Garmin GPS 10x Sensor or Garmin GPS 10 Deluxe w/Bluetooth (010-00378-00), attach it to my pocket PC and use my customized mapping software for capturing and verification of data.
Thanks every one in advance.
Ishfaq
