Since I need to use points as my basis for each page, I found a script called squarebuffer.avx, but I don't know how to use it after downloading/unzipping it. There is no install or instruction text file. Any help?

Louise,
That script you found to make mapbooks would do what you want. It is called DS Mapbook and it really is pretty slick. To do what you want, you would need to create some buffer around the points you want to include in the mapbook because the mapbook only creates pages based on polygons not points. You can set a scale and set an attribute to determine the title for the page. Go ahead and download it and play with it. It is worth your time.

Hello All!
I am so excited to have found this forum!! I have received great feedback that was easy to follow and most importantly, it worked just as I hoped it would.
So, I have more questions.
By the way, I am running ArcMap 9.2.
I have set the scale on the data frame properties to be fixed at 4800, but when I zoom to a selected attribute within a table, the scale always goes to 28,058. So I have to reset the scale every time. This part of the project requires me to produce on map for 100 data points. I considered using a script that I found to do all the printing as a Map Series, but there seemed to be too many conflicts that I am not able to address. For the sake of learning, let me present these apparent conflicts and see if there is a simple solution to address some or all of them.
Desired Output:
Hard copy and .pdf of 100 maps.
Maps will have consistent scale, and most text will be consistent. However, there is a title bar with text that is the same as one of the labels on the map. At this point, I am changing it manually. I would love to be able to make that automatic!
For each point, there will be at least one true color aerial brought in. For some points, there are up to 6 photos. The scale for the photos depends on whether the site is rural or urban. (Which is funny because there is nothing about Baldwin County AL that is anything but rural!!)
If I could somehow set the title on the layout to reference the point on the map, be sure that the scale really will be fixed at 4,800, and create .pdfs with a script, that would pretty much make my day!
I realize that I am spending a lot of time trying to take shortcuts, but if I can figure out some of the shortcuts to use on this project, the next one will run much smoother!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Louise Oyen
