For a unit with a built-in GPS unuit take a look at the Trimble GeoXT, it's served us well. We just bought another one, you'll need TerraSync and Pathfinder Office, the whole setup including an extended warranty should cost around 6k, pricey but the unit is WAAS and has sub-meter accuracy.
Now as for the other, cheaper options, if your handheld is bluetooth enabled, there are several decent WAAS enabled bluetooth GPS units out there and some decent free GPS software out there. Check at Sourceforge.
I can send some links later when I get back to my desk if you want.

I was aware of the Juno. It seems like a nice unit. Do you need ArcPad or Terrasync to access coordinates? If not, how would I copy coordinates into other programs?
Thanks,
Lawrence

Trimble has a new PDA unit that I believe would meet your requirements. It is called the Juno. Here is a link for more info: http://www.trimble.com/junost.shtml

Hello,
I would like to purchase either a PDA that has GPS built in or purchase a GPS that would click on to my existing Palm TX. The GPS needs to be WAAS enabled so I can get better accuracy. I would like to be able to capture coordinates standard programs such as a spreadsheet or memo pad. Is this possible without purchasing 3rd party software? If I need software to do this, what is out there? Palm OS or Windows Mobile is fine.
