Patrick (and others),
If you read my message closely, I have already stated that I don't want
to moderate the mailing list, so I think I'm already in agreement with
you there. But there has to be some sort of direction on a list
otherwise we *would* have spam on the list. Would you rather a list
that just allowed anyone to post? Remember, if there isn't some type of
moderation (even if it's just only allowing subscribers to post) then
you'd have tons of off-topic or "spam messages". That fact that we *do*
require people to be subscribed to the list to post is why you haven't
seen these messages come through.
