Live from Israel in the Planetarium!

When we invested in the advanced digital technology to reopen COSI’s Planetarium we knew that we could do much more in it than just traditional sky shows and even the new capacity to show full dome movies.

So it was a thrill to see the Congregation of  Tifereth Israel use COSI in a very creative and impactful way that started to show us our capacity to do special programming with partners who see the value in tapping our digital assets and willing to invest in program exploration with us.

Exploring the Intersection of Nanotechnology and Food

For my last post, I sat down with Dr. Jed Johnson from Nanofiber Solutions to talk about how nanotechnology is advancing medicine. You can see the video here.  Today we will be talking with Dr. Farnaz Maleky from The Ohio State University Food Innovation Center about how nanotechnology is advancing the food supply. Nanotechnology is simply the science of the very small.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Happy to see our new neighbors, The Columbus Idea Foundry (CIF), getting some national attention. We think the combination of COSI, CIF, and all the other Franklinton innovators are going to make this into the coolest neighborhood in Columbus!

Accessibility Update—COSI Introduces Sensory Friendly Movies!

Within the last 2 years COSI has been focused on identifying ways to make our building more inviting and welcoming to children, teens, and even adults with disabilities and special needs. Last year we introduced our Autism Activities Events and the response from the community has been GREAT! It has been an awesome experience working with those within the Columbus community to develop these special after hour events. Their feedback and willingness to assist COSI in making our Autism Activities Events the best they can be has been quite a rewarding experience.

COSI’s EMS and Safety Day Update

This past May COSI held another EMS & Safety Day event. This event is held annually during EMS and Safety Week with the purpose of providing the community with information from area partners on how we can stay safe throughout the year. This year we welcomed 12 community partners that provided demos and activities focused on understanding CPR, preparing your home for natural disasters, proper car seat safety, and much much more! COSI guests even had an opportunity to play with real patient simulators that doctor and nurses use during their training.
