COSI Management Geeking Out

I am a proclaimed Geek. No apologies.

With one of my degrees in Physics I watch Big Bang Theory faithfully and say "those are my peeps!"

Can't say the same for some of the talented members who make up the diversity of our Vice Presidents helping support COSI's team. They love and are dedicated to COSI, but I don't think any of them ever got excited and built their own stereo or mess around at home with Robot kits.

Museum Geeks Unite - at least for a weekend!

There's just one statewide gathering in Ohio each year that welcomes professionals from every kind of museum in the Buckeye State: it's the annual conference of the Ohio Museums Association (OMA). Last month, 100 representatives from Ohio museums gathered in Sandusky, Ohio for OMA's annual get-together, to exchange ideas, to network, and to be inspired by our friends' successes. OMA's membership includes professional staffers and dedicated volunteers from art, history, and science museums, nature centers, historic homes, arboretums, aquariums, zoos, and other cultural institutions.
Some of the 100 OMA conference attendees about to embark a chilly pre-conference ferry ride to historic South Bass Island & Gibraltar Islands in Lake Erie, including a trip to Ohio State's famous Stone Laboratory.

A Blast (of Gas) from the Past

Imagine you’re a Trogdorian, living on the planet Trogdor seventy-five light years from Earth. It is ninety million years ago, and your planet has just developed the technology to survey nearby worlds for signs of life.

You train your ultra-sensitive space telescope on a pretty solar system with a yellow star and eight smaller worlds stretched out like gemstones on a necklace. One of these worlds, third from its star, lies at a distance where liquid water might exist on its surface. Intrigued, you set your spectroscope to examine the atmosphere (if any) of this orbiting rock.

RACE: Are We So Different? Coming to COSI

RACE: Are We So Different? was highlighted by the President of Columbus City Council and our 8 minute introductory video was shown, as seen in this phone camera shot. I am thrilled to see the potential of this COSI offering as a tool for community dialogue and understanding. I can’t wait for its opening January 28.

The World Is Coming To Columbus

We have a team here at the annual international Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) conference in Baltimore. This is THE international gathering of science centers from around the world.

We had the COSI team up on stage at the opening session inviting everyone to join us in Columbus next year. Having COSI getting more and more international attention for some of our innovative partnerships with The Ohio State University and others, there is an anticipation among our colleagues to visit COSI and Columbus.
