Columbus Teacher Raises Over $1,000 Online for COSI Field Trip

Amy Koogler's students love science.

The Highland Elementary School teacher wasn't about to let financial challenges stop her from bringing her 300 students to COSI on a field trip this spring. Amy used a website called donorschoose.org to raise more than $1,000 from eleven donors, including Disney, to make her school's field trip possible.

"I am VERY happy to state that we raised enough money for our whole school to benefit and experience COSI this school year! We are a proud school and proud to be STEM-oriented! Without all of you and your warm hearts, this mission would not have been possible," said Amy following her successful campaign. "My teaching team and I are excited to work as partners with COSI professionals to customize and plan explorations at the different grade levels."

Amy worked with Kurt Huffman, COSI's Director of School and Community Partnerships, to develop three packages of offerings from COSI to fit her students' academic and learning needs. The COSI field trip was the first part of this three-part plan. Her school, Highland Elementary, is part of the Columbus City School district.
