SignalSoft Corp. Acquires BFound.com; Acquisition of Leading Web-based Mobile Tracking Company Allows SignalSoft to Offer Tracking Services to Operators Worldwide
BOULDER, Colo., April 5, 2000--SignalSoft Corp., the applications developer of Wireless Location Services(R), today announced that it has acquired BFound.com, a Victoria, B.C.-based company experienced in mobile asset tracking on the Internet. The acquisition allows SignalSoft to offer immediately a variety of asset tracking services to wireless markets worldwide. The combination of BFound.com's proven technology for Internet-based asset tracking and SignalSoft's wireless network operator customer base and product suite creates a new category of applications for SignalSoft in both corporate and personal use areas.

For example, mobile work force managers can track their vehicles and sales teams as they move through the field using just a mobile phone and a standard Internet browser.

In the near future, SignalSoft intends to offer applications that allow businesses and consumers to track the whereabouts of valuable assets, such as packages, goods or people, including the use of time- and location-sensitive alerts depending on the location of the asset.

For the youth and young adult cellular market, SignalSoft intends to launch an application that enables users to find and communicate with friends when they are out in social situations.

By adding BFound.com's tracking service to its suite of Wireless Location Services, SignalSoft now offers applications in four major location-based service categories: Information, Billing, Safety and Tracking.

In addition, Bfound.com's development team brings key technologies to SignalSoft including the ability to display detailed maps on Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) phones and support for satellite and packet-data networks.

SignalSoft intends to combine the ability to display detailed maps on WAP devices with its local.info product to deliver more detailed, real-time information such as nearby restaurants or transaction/event-based e-commerce.

"Acquiring BFound.com supports our growth strategy in two significant ways," said David Hose, SignalSoft's president and chief executive officer. "We are now able to meet operators' demands for tracking more than a year ahead of our schedule with a product that is already proven in the field. In addition, by gaining a development team with extensive Internet experience, we hope to further capitalize on opportunities created by the convergence of wireless and the Internet."

"SignalSoft saw the value of bringing our Internet and tracking capability to the wireless marketplace," said Tony Melli, BFound.com founder and chief technology officer. "At a time when demand for tracking services is on the rise, we offered a ready-made solution that fit their strategy. Our technology gives customers the ability to access the full functionality of the service through a standard Internet browser, cellular phone or emerging WAP-enabled wireless devices from anywhere in the world."

As a result of the deal, 15 BFound.com employees will join SignalSoft, bringing SignalSoft's total number of employees to over 100. SignalSoft plans to maintain and grow the development organization in Victoria, B.C. as a core development center for its internet and mobile tracking product lines.
