IcoMap V3.0 for Building Survey-Accurate Basemaps Now Available

Madison, WI – UCLID Software, the industry leader in land records modernization technology, today announced the release of IcoMap V3.0, a complete solution for accurately converting paper maps, deeds, and legal descriptions into digital maps. This latest version of the IcoMap Product Suite is the ideal tool for converting paper land records into basemaps suitable for a GIS.

As part of the IcoMap V3.0 Product Suite, UCLID introduces the Map Conversion module which utilizes the only text recognition engine in the world that can process text displayed at any angle. The Map Conversion module makes digital parcel mapping easy and fast. With the help of IcoMap’ s patented MCR technology, the unique text strings found in parcel maps can be instantly converted to vectors with the point and click of the mouse. The Map Conversion module preserves survey-measurement accuracy, while providing the speed of digitization.

“IcoMap’s any-angle text recognition technology is incredible. It has revolutionized digital parcel mapping and answers the needs of the GIS community,” said Curt Szymanski, President and CEO of UCLID. “It’s an exciting development for us.”

IcoMap’s new feature, the MCR Text Viewer, was designed for files that have been typed and saved in an ASCII text file or word processor format. The MCR Text Viewer will parse out and highlight all of the mathematical data such as bearings, distances, and curve information instantly. Users can then redraw the parcel by clicking on the highlighted text for bearings, distances, and appropriate curve information.

IcoMap V3.0 users have the ability to draw on multiple layers. Users can apply IcoMap’s draw commands on any of the layers they create. Using IcoMap ’s MCR, COGO, and digitization tools, users can draw easements, road centerlines, or building footprints all on separate layers.

IcoMap V3.0 offers a Closure Report function that lists all of the bearing and distances comprising a parcel. The report also provides northing and easting information of the closure error, closure precision, and other parcel metadata.

“I am thrilled with the advancements we’ve made with IcoMap V3.0,” added Szymanski. “We have designed a customized product that incorporates the very functions and flexibility that GIS professionals need, while maintaining an affordable price.”

Designed for title insurance professionals, surveyors, utility companies, and GIS professionals, IcoMap eliminates the tedium and intense labor involved in data conversion. IcoMap quickly and easily transforms land records into survey-accurate digital files that are easily managed and accessed.
