DaimlerChrysler Purchases 150th CAM2 Software License from FARO

LAKE MARY, Fla., Dec. 29 - Automobile manufacturer DaimlerChrysler recently purchased its 150th software license from FARO Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: FARO). Besides using FARO CAM2(TM) (Computer-Aided Manufacturing Measurement) software in five German plants, DaimlerChrysler is using FARO products in its facilities in the United States, South Africa, Brazil and Turkey.

FARO's family of CAM2 measurement software is used at DaimlerChrysler in: research and development, process planning, models and mock-ups, building of fixtures and manufacturing in foundry, prototyping, control and verification. DaimlerChrysler uses FARO's CAM2 Analyzer(TM) for viewing and analyzing large CAD files; FARO's CAM2 Execute(TM) for monitoring of quality directly on the shop floor; FARO's CAM2 Automotive(TM) for measuring surfaces and assemblies on its automobiles; and FARO's CAM2 SPC Process(TM) for statistical process control and analysis.

Heiko Riehl, an engineer at DaimlerChrysler's Rastatt facility in Germany, is responsible for quality control. "Our goal was to build a central database that would house all measurement and quality control data in real-time. A major requirement that was met by FARO CAM2 software was its accessibility from any factory PC and by any personnel on the shop floor."

FARO Technologies and its international subsidiaries design, develop and market CAM2 systems and services for manufacturers of automotive, aerospace, industrial and consumer products worldwide. Principle products include the FaroArm(R), a six-degree-of-freedom articulating arm, and a CAM2 family of advanced CAD-based measurement and reporting software. The FaroArm and CAM2 software provide manufacturers the freedom to measure production parts or complex assemblies on the shop floor. FARO's customers benefit through improved productivity and enhanced product quality because of reduced rework and scrap within the manufacturing process. A recognized leader of dimensional quality control products worldwide, FARO Technologies is ISO 9001 certified and Guide 25 approved. See FARO online at http://www.faro.com.
