Navigant Consulting, Inc. Announces New Canadian Product Sales
VANCOUVER, BC, February 22, 2000 - Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: NCI) has announced product sales agreements with major Canadian utility firms BC Hydro, BC Gas, SaskPower, and Manitoba Hydro. The sales will be made through Navigant Consulting Ltd., part of the company’s Spatial IT Solutions group.

Navigant Consulting products enhance the capabilities of geographic information system (GIS) software from Smallworld and leverage existing GIS/IT investments through off-the-shelf availability and efficiency features.

“Integration of Navigant Consulting products allows utilities to expedite GIS application implementation and receive improved system utilization and productivity,” said Rob Carroll, Director of Business Development. “We’re very pleased to be doing business with these important Canadian utilities.”

The agreements provide for the following product sales:

  • BC Hydro, Inc. has chosen to utilize the GeoData Job Scheduler product, a stand-alone application for GIS users and system integrators that handles scheduling and execution of automated jobs directly within their GIS. This software allows companies to maximize the utilization of their software license investment through load tracking and down-time reductions. GeoData Warp is a GIS application that allows fast and easy vector warping and is used to correct facility map locations through accurate data from sources like global positioning system (GPS). BC Gas is the largest distributor of natural gas in British Columbia, supplying gas to more than 720,000 customers in over 100 communities across the Province.

  • SaskPower Inc. has selected to implement GeoData Cornerstone Thematic Mapping, allowing users to create thematic maps within their GIS, through symbology redefinition based on an aspect of their attribution. The Thematic Mapping software allows decision- makers throughout the organization to easily access and visualize data in a single view revealing patterns and trends. SaskPower, based in Regina, SK, provides electric power to more than 420,000 customers over 526,600 square kilometers of diverse terrain within the Province of Saskatchewan.

  • Centra Gas Manitoba Inc. also purchased GeoData Warp. Centra Gas Manitoba Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manitoba Hydro, distributes natural gas to more than 242,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout southern Manitoba.
