Allaire Corporation Makes Strategic Investment in Gearworks.com
MINNEAPOLIS, July 11, 2000-- Investment Signifies Endorsement of Gearworks.com's Mobile Technology Strategy and the Wireless Capabilities of the Allaire Business Platform

Gearworks.com, a leading web and wireless solutions integration firm, today announced it had received a strategic investment from Allaire Corporation, a leading provider of Internet software products and services for companies building their business on the Web. DRW Venture Partners, a division of Dain Rauscher Wessels and Carlin Investments also participated in the strategic partner phase of Gearworks.com's financing. The investment will fuel continued growth and development of mobile technology components to complement the Allaire Business Platform for Gearworks.com's transportation and logistics clients.

"Investing in a company that utilizes Allaire technology to deliver innovative wireless applications for enterprise clients complements our strategy to further extend Allaire's open platform and make wireless Internet technology a reality for main stream corporations," said George Favaloro, vice president of business development for Allaire. "Gearworks.com has clearly demonstrated their expertise in developing highly scaleable mobile technology components with Allaire Spectra and ColdFusion.

Gearworks.com CEO, Keith Lauver indicated that the investment will accelerate the implementation of wireless technology initiatives aimed at the transportation and logistics market. "Allaire's technology has been instrumental in the creation of eTrace, Gearworks.com's platform for messaging, GPS-tracking and supply-chain automation," said Lauver.

Targeting companies seeking transportation and logistics efficiencies, eTrace leverages off-the-shelf consumer devices to display real-time information regarding load status and load location. eTrace offers bi-directional, real-time information exchange between truck drivers or couriers in the field, the dispatch center, and corporate business users.

Gearworks.com began developing and delivering business-to-business mobile applications in September 1999. Since then Gearworks.com has become a member of the Wireless Data Forum and continued to partner with leading technology companies including Allaire (Nasdaq: ALLR), Palm (Nasdaq: PALM), Computer Associates, AT&T, and Microsoft.
