Autodesk Family of Design Software Supports VBA
6.2 for Development
VBA 6.2 Expands Autodesk's Family of Programming Languages for AutoCAD Industry
Solutions, Delivers Superior Integration With Microsoft Office Applications
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., July 12 - Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK - news) today announced that it is
augmenting the customization alternatives for its industry-leading design software by incorporating the Microsoft Visual Basic
for Applications (VBA) version 6.2 development environment within the AutoCAD® 2000i platform and all AutoCAD
2000i-based industry solutions. With the most advanced version of Microsoft VBA available today, customers and
developers can customize AutoCAD 2000i, create applications that enhance the program, and through ActiveX technology
facilitate better integration between AutoCAD 2000i-based industry solutions and other Microsoft Windows applications.
VBA 6.2 is a key element of every AutoCAD 2000i-based solution's customization and development tools that include
ObjectARX®, ActiveX, Microsoft Visual J++, and Visual LISP(TM).
``Historically, one of AutoCAD software's true strengths has been the ability for users to customize the application for their
specific requirements, and for developers to create programs that can work alongside AutoCAD,'' said Larry Diamond, vice
president, Design Platform Group, Autodesk. ``VBA is the fastest growing of all the customization and development tools for
AutoCAD, and with VBA 6.2 our customers can more easily integrate AutoCAD 2000i with other Office applications.''
With VBA 6.2, AutoCAD customers will have access to a wide variety of new features, including support for COM add-ins,
stronger intellectual property protection, and greater customization tools like development environment extensibility and
support for VBA partner design tools. For more information on how AutoCAD 2000i supports VBA 6.2 go to
