ERSIS announces the release of Encounter - a high performance map-based internet product.
National software solutions provider, ERSIS Australia, has announced the release of Encounter, a spatial internet technology.

Encounter provides a map view of an organisation's data via an internet browser, and allows users of the software to access and analyse this data.

These maps may be as simple as a building plan or as complex as the property base of a large city.

This map-based information provides a complete view of an organisation's information.

According to Mr Wal Mayr, Managing Director of ERSIS Australia, Encounter heralds a new era for spatial solutions, offering businesses and governments the ability to provide map-based information to large numbers of people anywhere in the world.

"With the introduction of map-based software that is specifically designed for high performance and security on the internet, spatial solutions will now be available to everyone."

"Corporations and government can offer internal users or customers, vital geographical information over the web and have it easily accessed and viewed," said Mr Mayr.

"I predict we will see spatial and geographic solutions become an integral part of internet sites throughout the world," he said.

Technical Specifications

Encounter runs on any internet browser (that supports Java 1.1) and any server operating system (that supports Java 1.2) and links directly to database servers such as Oracle.

It can be easily configured to automate queries and suit the needs of different users, and can be accessed simultaneously by large numbers of users. Encounter remains responsive under heavy load due to its multi-threading nature and extremely small footprint. The Encounter Navigator interface adds to the core MapInfo MapXtreme Java engine to make locating and querying data extremely easy. Encounter's design also allows for a highly flexible server configuration, that facilitates scalability, security and performance.

A live demonstration can be viewed at www.encounter.ersis.com
