Wireless Commerce: Wireless Commerce Ltd reaches out to launch interactive m-marketing platform
JUL 28, 2000, Wireless Commerce Ltd (WCL), a world leading innovator and provider of mobile commerce solutions, today launched Reach-UTM, a powerful direct-marketing platform that is set to pioneer the development of permission marketing on mobile devices.

Developed in Finland, Reach-U is set to add another dimension to mobile marketing systems. Currently permission marketing systems allow marketeers to deliver messages to mobile phones, however Reach-U adds a new interactive capability by allowing consumers to immediately respond to adverts.

Reach-U therefore gives brand managers the ability to enter into a two-way, dynamic relationship with consumers in a way never possible before. A continuous dialogue can be facilitated whereby consumers can use their phones to request information on a range of issues, from product and service specifications, to news and entertainment services. Marketeers can then deliver personalised responses such as further product information, tailored promotional material, alerts on new products, services and related events and even the creative delivery of personalised ads.

The solution utilises SMS (Short Message Services) technology to deliver relevant information and personalised messages to today`s handheld wireless devices. In addition, Reach-U is designed to integrate with all future standards such as GPRS, WAP, UMTS and emerging interactive television standards and will be able to feature location-based services.

In response to the increasing use of text messages (with over 8 billion text messages sent globally each month), mobile marketing is poised to become the dominate element in the marketing mix. Reach-U provides marketeers with unrivalled opportunities to take advantage of this new medium.

Reach-U is a cost-effective way of reaching a mass audience whilst maintaining the personalisation that consumers are demanding. It allows marketeers to interact with consumers at the very moment they have shown interest in, or are at the point of purchasing products. It can be easily integrated into existing campaigns, provides a completely measurable return on investment, and allows marketeers to continually gather information on their consumers in order to refine their services and marketing campaigns and strategies.

"Early results from the use of Reach-U technology in Finland has produced unprecedented excitement from consumers and brand managers alike." Commented Phil Stubbs, UK Business Development Manager for Wireless Commerce Ltd. "It is set to revolutionise the way consumers receive information on products and services, and is the perfect way for marketeers to take advantage of the phenomenal growth in mobile phone use."

Reach-U is an extension of Wireless Commerce Ltd`s, flexible m-commerce platform, Wireless Commerce Engine. It can therefore be adapted to offer a full range of m-commerce as well as m-marketing functions. These include, dynamic pricing models, tracking and personal alert functions for a wide range of business models such as auctions, stock broking, ticketing, e-tailing, information services and message management.

Stubbs continues, "Industry analysts are predicting that mobile marketing will be the primary m-commerce application. Visionary brand managers who embrace this latest technology will reap the rewards of being first movers in a territory which is set to explode."
